Heard Museum
A museum that provides Phoenix residents and visitors a
unique view into Native American culture is located within Papago Park,
Arizona's biggest urban park. Heard Museum, which first opened its doors in
1952, has been teaching local communities for more than half a century. Heard
Museum offers educational activities such as After School Adventures, where
kids may work hands-on with native materials, in addition to storing historic
items and offering an introduction to Native American culture. Aside from
school field excursions, there are a variety of adult activities centered on
personal growth and discovery. The Heard Museum's most magnificent yearly
celebrations, such as Thunderbird & High Tea and Ghost Dance & Kachina
Ball, are among the museum's most popular offerings.
The Bean Tree Coffee Company
We discovered The Bean Tree Coffee Company, a quirky small
coffee store hidden along a labyrinth of back alleyways. With its mismatched
seats and wooden furnishings, this hole-in-the-wall cafe exudes a unique and
bohemian vibe. It's a great site for people searching for some peace and quiets
away from the city's hustle and bustle, yet it's near to downtown Phoenix. Make
sure to sample one of their unique coffees! There's something for everyone,
whether it's a blackberry lavender latte or a fiery dragon fruit latte. The
Bean Tree shocked us with how nice and inviting they were — it truly does have
it all, from specialty beverages to courteous employees. Did we mention their
Wi-Fi signal was quite strong?
Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park
Many people pass past Pueblo Grande without a second glance,
figuring it is simply another government facility. Pueblo Grande is home to one
of Arizona's most remarkable museums, The Archaeology Park, in addition to its
typical position as the headquarters for US Customs and Border Protection. It's
one of metro Phoenix's best-kept secrets, with more than 200 historic Hohokam
houses and Native American artifacts going back 3,000 years. Take a walk
through centuries-old adobe constructions, see cave paintings up close, and
join one of the many tours given by experienced archaeologists. If you can drag
yourself away from downtown Phoenix, go before sunset, when the setting sun

The Arboretum at Flagstaff Urban Wildlife Refuge
The Arboretum at Flagstaff, located at 2520 N. Scenic Drive,
is a sanctuary for birds and other creatures, as well as some of Arizona's
unique flora. It is home to more than 50 species of fauna and 110 distinct
plant types that survive in the absence of human intervention. Most people
drive through the park to snap photographs of some fairly spectacular
monuments; there's a statue devoted to Superman, Spiderman, SpongeBob Square
Pants, and many more just near entry 6 along North Scenic Drive. This is a fantastic
spot for families or couples seeking some fresh air and entertainment.
Tempe Town Lake
On a beautiful, sunny day, nothing beats a leisurely paddle
over Tempe Town Lake. Although afternoon cruises are the most popular, morning
cruises are just as memorable—especially if you plan it just so and arrive
before sunrise. Bring lots of sunscreens and a hat to avoid getting sunburned,
whether you're paddling your boat or hiring one from one of the numerous local
firms that provide water-based tours of Tempe (complete with live music and
munchies). Several sites along Apache Boulevard near Rio Salado Parkway,
notably Rio West Park & Ride just east of Loop 202, have plenty of parking
(Beeline Highway).
Gould Park
Hart Lake is Gould Park's most popular feature. It's a great
place for trekking and running because it's surrounded by a lush green forest.
It's also near Scottsdale's downtown area. Families especially like the wide
lake, which is ideal for swimming, paddle boating, and kayaking, as well as the
adequate area for picnics and Frisbee games. Throughout the holidays and
weekends, the lake might get crowded, but there are plenty of spots to sit with
a good book or enjoy a peaceful respite from life's obligations during the
week. During the spring and summer months, this park hosts a variety of
activities, including concerts, fishing contests, and free movies on Friday
